Re: Hope you get to enjoy today!
I can't believe I was the only person on Washington today! My dad came out as support in his boat and I tore up the lake! For my 5th or 6th time on the water I was very happy to be able to hold a line on both my strong and weak side, and actually get some upwind! Not bad considering end of June was my first lesson on the water (and that was to learn how to ride a wakeboard!). Can't wait until I am confident enough to go without the boat support and join others on some of the area lakes! I am absolutely stoked after such an awesome day of riding the waves and hope everyone was able to get out and take advantage of the day!!

There were only four of us at Malmo (and often only two of us on the water).
Where was everybody on Tuesday? I saw three kites down by Father Hennepin Park, but it looked like they were north of the White Cloud Drive peninsula:

If any of those kiters are reading this, where did you launch from? From the park?
Instead of wasting time finding the launch while the wind was so good, I just drove up to Malmo. It was a surprisingly good day. I got there are around 1:30pm. The wind was roaring. It softened a bit, and then came up and came down, but was ridable until 7pm.

Marc, several of us had a great day at Fr. Hennepin. If you want terrain and nice swells, Malmo does not compare on a NW. Drive into the park, follow the road all the way to the beach, and lanuch from there. Self-launching is tricky, so it is a spot for more experienced kiters. See you there next time.

shot out to Waconia after work even though all the forecasts had the grunt of the wind taking a nosedive at 5ish. The trees got less and less active as i drove out. Scott was reassuring me on the phone as he drove from the lake that if nothing else...there is a great group to hang out with out there...
So I arrived at the lake with low expectations....and I was pleasantly surprised. Had a fun session plenty powered, crisp air, shimmering waters.. very nice.
Sounds like there were some great sessions had yesterday. Maybe this is the start of our prime fall season.
bring it on

Max took these cool pictures with his Go Pro while we were out at Father Hennepin. What a wonderful afternoon - tough to beat winds in 20s, 70+ degree warm sun, warm water and fun swell to play on with a half dozen friends. It's so rare that we get a 'warm' FH day. the last picture shows the launch site that Mike was referring to. W-NW is the easiest direction to get out of there and it lines up so you can do a solo launch using the dog leash technique on the sandy beach.
Here is a sunset pictures taken by the lake cam. Would have been a great night to camp at the state park.
