FYI I rescued a capsized canoe once on Calhoun. The technique I used was:
  • I pulled the upside down canoe across my windsurfer so the canoe was at right angles and balanced.
    I rolled the canoe down the windsurfer until it was upright.
    I stood on the windsurfer and got in the canoe.
    I pulled the people into the canoe over one gunnel while putting weight on the on the other gunnel.
