Snowkiting 101 video.

Post by berken »

I took the Snowkiting 101 course last Friday out on WBL. Here is a link to the footage. Its nothing crazy, just a few newbies having fun on the ice.

Wow! I am thankful that I learned on snow. Hats off to the instructor. I do not think I could ever give lessons for snowkiting. I give free windsurfing lessons but that is in onshore winds, warm/soft water, and I get to laugh with the students when they fall. Every fall on this video makes me cringe since I know exactly what it feels like. I even do some of the same thing on occasion in those conditions.

Keep the beginners vids coming. It would be nice to have a session by session progression so some of my friends (who I may introduce but not give lessons to) could see that you do, and will, have to pay to play.

Nice comment Matt.

Justin (who posted the video) got out again today and got dialed! I got to ride with him, I enjoy that. Very happy for him and his progress. Hopefully he'll post his video from today....

I have closely  examined the video... Seems my likeness is being used as follows:

5s mark - Small man flying kite
56s mark - Left Ski boot
and again
60s mark - back of helmet

Just want to make sure that if Justin gets rich with this footage that I'm properly compensated for my modeling activities.

As a n00b I'm pretty excited. Mike was a lot of fun and eager to answer all my questions. Having him continue to answer my email questions after the class has been invaluable! Unfortunately, before LAKAWA I had 0 kite boarding friends. A few hours later I'm surfing the world wide web during lunch breaks, coffee breaks, and staying up until 2.am looking at equipment deals. I'm ready for the financial plunge of becoming a kiteboarding n00b!

I would recommend Mikes course to anyone. Great guy and keeps it fun!

Word of CAUTION ski-boots + Ice Rink = triple toe loop.
