Parking at Malmo

Post by Chad »

A few days ago I was at Malmo riding and was approached by the caretakers of Malmo Veterans Park. They love seeing the kiters using the park, but are asking that we stop parking in the ditch along the road.
*I.E. Cars parked perpendicular to the road on the grass.

They were very nice about it, but said the tire tracks were causing ruts in the ground and too much water was pooling up making it soft and muddy. They asked that we simply park parallel to the road or in the parking lot if the roadside is full. They caretaker mentioned that if people continued to park on the grass, they have considered constructing a fence along the road.

That's crazy. Are you trying to control kiters? Is this another ban? Are you forming a cult of non-grass parkers? Don't think you can tell me what to do!

REVOLT!!! ; )

seriously though...
Thanks for posting this Chad. I've never fully understood the situation up there.

It's a great park and well maintained. Walking from the lot would be a pain.

Sounds very reasonable. Let's get the word out.

I filled a bag last time I was to Malmo while the wind wasn't up quite yet.

I'm keeping a box of bags in my car for the summer, just in case I'm waiting for wind sometime :)

I didn’t get any response to the Malmo clean up. Maybe MK or Tighe could help set it up. It would be a great chance to get everyone out to ride.
