Just took a temp reading on Tonka this morning. 48.3° That looks to be about 12° colder than last year at this time. Could be early ice this year. It looks like it wasn't until around 11/10/08 that we were this temp last year.

Graphs of '08 &'09 water temps on Tonka are available here: http://www.lakeminnetonkaforum.com/view ... f827cdb084

Nice charts. I seem to remember the lake flips when it hits 39f because 39f water sinks leaving the colder stuff floating on top to freeze. The 2008 chart shows the lake freezing a week after it flips.

Water temp at Mille Lacs as of 10/20/09 at 12:10 p.m. was 45.9. At 6 a.m it was only 44.7 though. I like the daily readings on the mnlakecam.com site.

Scott, have you been holding out on us? There is a cam at Chapman's Resort when you go to that site.

Yesterday I took a beating on Lake Superior, and the water temp was relatively warm. According to the weather radio, one of the bouys is reporting a surface water temp of 47. Should be good for a while.

Let's just say I lost another sail to Superior. I tried to bust thru a breaking wave but got there a little late. The wave kicked the nose of the board back and thru the sail.

It was an interesting day. Early afternoon, there was a northerly shift and the wind was side-on. It also killed the wind at the tot lot, but it was nice to head somewhat straight out and back through the waves. I should have packed up and launched from the airport for better wind.

TV - were you riding a WindWing Bash? If so you made the KSTP evening news last night whilst attempting to bust out through the shore break.

Hey Dave, I missed the news. The Ezzy you sold me has been great, there were alot of 6.0 days at the gorge. It's blowing again on superior, I wished I lived closer to Duluth. Maybe some strong northerly winds later next week???

Today the West Superior Bouy is reporting 46 degrees.
