Yeah Rick! WBL @ Ramsey beach. Kind of a hike for St.Cloud. Where do you usually ride on a south wind?

Just woke up for an early AM pee. I was pondering what it means to be an "experienced kiter". I have seen some of the best cross lines with an old friend, Darlene. I've seen Bob C. from Mad Town land a Contra on some innocent bystanders. How high do I have to jump on Lake Calhoun to become, "experienced"? I'm only planning to stay for a short while. Reminds me of a Hendrix song. I rebuilt his highschool in Seattle. Bruce Lee went there too., and Quincey Jones. Lame-ass trivia, I know.

How new? It's tricky but don't want to leave you hanging. A few variables are involved until you are confident to rig-n-ride without assistance.

We are all helpful in this community and don't want any injuries. Too often new people put themselves in a position to need help. In good consciousness we (more experienced riders) will help knowing the potential dangers. There is a natural progression in this sport to figuring it out and that "learning curve" has the same hazards we have learned to avoid to get to the joy we are all romanced by in this sport. The learning curve varies per person but not worth trying to skip a step. Kind of like the old driving a car analogoy.

Great question and I am interested in you and all others to persue this sport but not sure how else to answer your question or answer it correctly.

I think I will try to be there around 6 am to get a session in before work.

I'd be happy to take a few minutes to talk to you if you want to show up. The sport is safer with others around!

Very new.
I met you over the weekend in Carlsona beach - you were the one who showed us where to go.
How is Waconia compared to Malmö? Is there a place with enough shallow water for tomorrow?

Sasha!?

Not sure what early morning is like on Waconia....don't know how many people who's sport is fishing are haveing the same chat room discussions:)

Waconia is a good set up but not as good as Malmo. I would guess it has 15% of the set up area and 30% of the shallows.

Yes! You really took the natural environment and used available resources well:)

Hate to disagree with you Mike but I'm gonna. Waconia has less than 5% of the rigging area of Malmo and Less than 5% of the shallows (1500ft x 3 miles of shallows at Malmo). The wind will be onshore tomorrow so with the limited shallows (maybe 200ft from shore) anyone not able to immediately ride upwind is putting themselves and others in danger.

I don't want to kill anyone's stoke but the launch just isn't the best choice for that wind direction. Lake Washington on the otherhand, would be sideshore winds with at least a mile to 2 miles open downwind. The shallows are also much larger.

Waconia works much better for less experienced when the prevailing winds are sideshore, SouthSouthEast, South, or North.

Ride safe
