Wow what a great weekend

Post by Tighe »

What a wonderful non event the gathering has become. For the fourth year it was blessed with great winds. Friday was such a wonderful surprise. The winds picked up at around 1:00 and blew till sunset. When I left Adam, Debbie and Tom were enjoying an amazing sunset session....I was just too pooped.

Saturday started early. The winds were blowing and the cars just kept arriving. What a scene. There must have been 100 kites on the lawn and 20-30 on the water.

There was a great groove in the air. It was so good to see people from around the state, and Canada. As the day wound down and the sun streamed through the trees, you could look around the park and see small groups, hanging out, laughing, telling stories, connecting. What a great commuity. We took over the patio at Carlsona again this year. The vibe just continued. Calsona once again offered up their grounds for camping. Always nice to sleep to lapping waves and a breeze in the trees.

Jan Marie and Paul, played guitar and Mandolin around the bon fire on the beach. What a way to end the day.

Terry and Kat opened up their property for camping as well. Quite a crew headed that way each evening as well.

Good to see both of them again. Shared a bit of water with Terry on Friday. Glad to see you back out there mon.

Thanks to all those that came and were a part of the experience.

There must be some strange kind of wind Karma with the Gathering. Maybe because it's not competitive and just has good times as the goal, the wind gods must have decided they like it.
I know the winds were not perfect but what a beautiful weekend, lot's of new faces, some old faces, bright sunshine, a gorgeous hatch of mayflies ( ugh) ,good news from various quarters, new upcoming kiters on the beach ( the Pierquets and Suades) all in all pretty awesome.
I'm bumming I didn't think to bring a guitar and missed the jam, next year one will be in the van.
I think we have to give a big "AAA" to Ray and Paul coming down from Canada, it's always great to see these guys but it was also good to see some windsurfers on the water, thanks to their being at the event.
Jeremy ...thanks for the awesome beer. Scott thanks for the lodging and breakfast.
Thanks everyone for a fun time.

Thanks to all for coming down and making the event happen - what a great location!
I'm still smiling from the fun times on and off the water! My lips are dried out from all the wind and tequilla - Thanks Tom!

what a weekend! warm and windy! the sunset session on friday brought me back to padre and the only thing that seemed different was the location. many of the same people, warm shallow water, and windy enough to ride until dark. this might be the only time being late actually paid off.

anyway... it was great to see everyone again and meet some new people as well. i also wanted to mention that i had a friend come check out the gathering and he was really impressed with our kiteboarding community and the unique dynamics of the overall group.

cant wait to get out and ride again!
