Haterras

Post by Si »

so i was on a short vacation to the outer banks and was able to drive down to the haterras area and only saw a couple people out kiting. i thought there would be fleets of them as the wind was blowing steady. where do people kite in this area? we drove from Kitty Hawk all the way down to the Haterras light house and saw 1 kite.

what time of day and wind direction? SW winds build during the day and at 4:00 and later it gets windy and kites will be out for sure.kite city. Hatteras is huge though and they spread out all over the sound and ocean with over 40 miles or riding spots from rodanthe to hatteras. There's also pockets of riders all over and may be hard to see, but the most popular are kite point, 1st and second turn out near Avon, Chimi house, but can't see them at chimi. planet run, but can't see them. Real kite slick, but have to be at Real or close by and all up and down near the new Kitty Hawk in waves all the way to rodanthe.

if it's blowing NE, the ocean will be busy.
