i need friends to ride with, but where???

ok, so i am 16 years old, have everything to kite with, and no kiting friends. it kinda sucks riding by yourself. I was wondering if anybody was going to be around next week at all, because i have plans to go kiting, and wanted to know if i could meet up with a group of people and ride a group sesh instead of being lonely......
I have plans for Da Bear, but we'll see where i head. anyone up?

Well, you have made it to this site, just keep a close eye out and read the posts as to where everyone is going and you can usually always find a group to be with, shouldn't be a problem. Sorry Katie I have to disagree with the age thing, I would come to think the average age is probably in the late 20's all the way to the mid 40's and a few of us in there 50's, but at the same time I wouldn't dwell on that at all, everyone in the community are really great people we all come from different walks of life but when it comes to kiting we all share the same passion.

This is a great site, and from my experience(just moved here from CO) just post up where you were thinking about going and everyone here is very friendly so they will either tell you they will see you there or might even contact you just so you guys can meet up.

I always try to check back on Friday afternoon, when everyone is starting to get the itch and scratching it by looking up wind reports and beaches.

I am not that experienced at kiting yet(boarding is like second nature to me)but love riding.
I am going to Lutsen this weekend but will be back for some wind next week.

Hoep we can get a sesh together.

White Bear looks good all weekend. Here's the "schedule"

Friday: If we have good snow and enough wind I'm takin' the day off. Will be riding in front of RandyL's house or off of Bellaire since wind will be NE.

Saturday: Forecast currently calls E. Will be riding at the Marina/Tallys on the West end of the lake.

Sunday: NW winds. Wildwood Beach, Mahto Beach, or Bellaire will work....just look for kites.

Since I'm also 16 like everyone else on this forum (going on 40!) and have been holed up the last two weekends installing a new bathroom I need to get out!!!!!!!

Ice conditions: 8-9" are reported on the West end. Not sure of the East end as it's always the last to freeze. The cold temps this week should have done the trick but I always make sure there are some ice fisherman that have "tested" the area first.

just watch the winds and show up any good day on White bear and you'll find some compadres. Just introduce yourself and you'll make friends easy. We are all 16 out there. A 13 is a good winter kite to start. Beware, your quiver will want to grow by summer. Plenty of new and used deals out there. Tight lines!
