Peter Lynn absent in MN?

Hey guys.

I love foils and always thought about checking out the Peter Lynn kites. Is there anyone in MN that flys them? I've obviously never seen one around and have wondered why. Is there something about them that doesn't make them MN friendly or just the fact that there isn't any local retailers that carry them? I'm tempted to buy a used one just to check it out and see what they're all about and if it sucks, try to move it on again. I can imagine they might not be common around here for the same reason other foils aren't due to initial water launching huh? If someone does by chance have one in MN, I'd love to fly with you sometime and have a look at it in the flesh! Anyone?

I lived in WI over last winter, and used to kitesnowski with razors, which are fast buggy kites. I just got a PL Guerilla 15 meter, and have only had it up 2 times, but so far, I love it! Pretty lifty, very stable, not too fast thru the air, but overall, I think it would rock on snow!! I hear there is a trick to water relaunching them, but should do it reliably once the trick is learned. I havent had mine on water yet. For the money, I dont think you can go wrong, you will prolly convert a lot of LEI fliers too. I say go for it, but try a used G1 or s arc first. You WILL NOT miss pumping up a LEI!!!!

There is a guy in Clear Lake Iowa, Steve Allbright, that flys Peter Lynn arcs. He has a shop in Brit Iowa called Brite kite and Sail. He's also a distributor of Ocean Rodeo gear. I bought my drysuit from him. Don't have his number, but if you go on Ocean Rodeo site and look up dealers in Iowa, his name and number pops up. He might be able to help you out.

Fine for winter and super stable. Though without big beaches can't imagine flying them on water.

Yeah but Tighe, I fly my foil at malmo.. There's no beach there at all! I bet you could even fill the PL with air and drag it out onto the water. I could imagine it quite easily actually.

And jonesing4wind.. No chance I'll convert any LEI fliers. THey are as stubborn as us foil fliers!
