Greg, great to see you and Sid and the Byllesby gang at the lake today. Your post here inspired me to drop the household projects, beg my wife one more time and dash over for a quick session. What a surprise to arrive just as it was picking up. 5.5 was way too much most of the time, but also way too much fun.
I've got a busy fall coming and like most will be hoping for 4.0 weekends. Keep in touch.
Your timing was perfect!
I sailed another short session after you left, and was shot. It just kept getting better.
Warm water and 5.0 West on Bylessby makes for a good Labor Day holiday.
Looking forward to good fall sailing and seeing you, Sid and the gang out there often.
I can't explain all the reasons why but Byllesby is just the best when the wind lines up. Terrain, rigging area, you name it. Too much sailing on Cannon had taken its toll on my jibing skills. "Ye olde mud hole", as Bill christened it, is just what I needed to get back in form. By the way, the water quality was way better than average yesterday. If you want to "de-Byllesbyfy" yourself the beach facilities even have a nice hot shower available. It was great to see a representative crew yesterday. Thanks, Greg for getting me out of bed yesterday and into the sport more years ago than I care to remember.
P.S.
My son and son-in-law were out as well. Ben (in-law) gave waterstarting a try. I took him up to the rock strip after a short session on the beach. He was making some progress under my nagging instruction but after I left him alone( important move) he did one near shore and another out in deep water. Those young guys learn fast! I hope I am adding a new face to the community
