Windsurfing and Rental in Boca Raton, FL????

Post by Chad_B »

I am travelling for work with some time to spare along the way. Does anyone know where I can get some equipment and approximately what the average conditions are?? From what I've seen it isn't very wavy which is good for a midwestern like myself.

Thanks for any help.

http://www.sfbsa.com/sites/sitesframe.html
http://www.windsurfatlanta.org/places/centralfl.html - these two sites will give you info on good sailing sites in the area
for rental call these guys http://www.sailboardsmiami.com and ask who rents in Boca Raton area. I know there is one outfit there but do not remember the name. Winds are variable this time of year, but in a week you can get couple days when it is > 13 mph.

I spent a week the past two spring breaks in Pompano Beach (a short ways from Bocan Raton). I rented fron Sailboards MIAMI (on Biscanne sp? Bay) once, and from Delray beach sports (on the open ocean) once. Delray beach had better equipment available and great sailing in April. They wouldn't rent to me the one day it was really blowing because they were afraid for their equipment but I had a great time in 12 - 17 mph on a go board the following day. Frendly staff, I'd go there again.

At sailboards Miami the equipment available was so so ( a techno 283 with an aluminum boom - bare aluminum) but it was a week-end and windy. It was a great place to sail. Windy with flat water.

Both place charge about $25/hour for 1 hour with 2 hour specials for $40.

Great! Thanks for the information. I would much rather pack my harness and booties than my golf bag.

This community and website are a very valuable resource!!
