Harness Questions

Post by collinwood »

I have realized that I am ready for riding with a harness. Any suggestions on a good/fairly inexpensive harness to purchase?? Most likely I would purchase one from The House or if anyone has a used one? I am a bigger guy...6'3'' 215 if that matters?

Thanks!

Just go to the house or scuba center and try on harnesses, everyone is a different shape so it's hard to advise a particular model, it may not fit you well.
Make sure the harness feels comfortable, make sure there are no preassure spots, for your size buy the widest bar they have it will spread the load over your pelvis or waist depending what type of harness you decide on.
I'm 6'2 230lbs with a 36 inch waist, I have found the Dakine XT seat works well for me.But as I said you may have a far more fetching figure than I do and the XT may not feel good.
All harnesses soften up a little with use and mold to your shape a little more, so if it's comfortable in the shop it should get better.
Be sure to find something you can hook into and hang off when you try the harness, it's comfort loaded up with your body weight thats crucial
