Edge DeLamination

Here's some pictures of my board that blew up a few days ago on the ice:

Most of the damage happend after 1 session even after flipping the board around to use the other edge. The board was on it's third season.

It's really fun to use a snowboard on ice but I think it's very hard on them. It's best if you have at least an inch or two of packed snow.

How are your skies holding up this year on the ice? Perhaps I should get a set if they are working good.

I bought a $30 pair of old Hart skis 3 years ago at Play it Again, and they keep on going. They are a bit heavy though they seem to be holding up.

I shattered the tip on one of my brand new Dynastar skis last week. My old Play-it-Again Solomons have held up to lots of abuse quite well.

Sport Mart in Bloomington is clearing out some $450-$600 skis for less than $100. I picked up a pair the other day. I will wait for snow to use them though.

I also blew the edges on my skis. I was told that it is easy to repair, check at your local ski tuning shop -

Skis Boards

Post by steveb »

I have been using 90 cm ski boards, the little trick skis shaped like a small snowboard with a hardplate style of binding. They are very stiff due to their short length so the edge hold is very good, they are quite wide so they power through the crud very well, they seem to hold textured ice quite well but are not fond of the sheer smooth ice we have now. They are so short the tips don't get in the way of kite lines, mega maneuverable and when the doo doo really hits the fan you can skate home as if on roller blades. As they are twin tips they are good if you decide to go backwards upon landing. Mine are holding up well and I paid $80 for new ones last August from http://www.skiboards.com . Can't recommend them highly enough.
