Can Lake Superior have waves without much wind (like ocean?)

Post by Quetzalcoatl »

Anybody know if Lake Superior can still have some decent waves without much wind?

Usually on our inland lakes, we don't have waves unless there's strong wind to produce them.

Yet, on the ocean you can have NO wind yet still some big waves rolling in from far far away.

Does Lake Superior behave in this way too? or is it just another inland lake.

Anybody know?

Hey: Lake Superior will have some wind (Duluth may have the only wind this Sunday, coming in from E-NE at 15 mph).

Maybe enough for some Wave sailing?

Or go to youtube and search for Stoney Point. Just a ways up Hwy 61.
