Ditch the windsurfer, the iceboard is where it's at

Post by Pat Heppert »

Not sure why Eric is still looking for frigid liquid. If you've never tried a freeskate or iceboard, you are missing out. Limitless speed, easy jibes, fun tricks not possible on the water (for normal humans), small sails, and very little wind required. Boards are pretty easy to homebuild for very little money. I am heading up to Christina on Sunday with both my brand new carbon fiber iceboard and also the iceboat.

Hey Pat, might see you up there! Spent the last two weekends with the DN Iceboat guys. Great Crew - listen to them and beware that there IS open water around. Know were it is and go with a partner. Plan on going in then you probably wont. Ok, enought warning and sabre rattling...

last weekend with - Jerry Sandell on Freeskate and Snowboard/Switchblade later (movie)

Friday, Nov, 24, I DID Round Lake, It was Paradise!!!!

Post by Quetzalcoatl »

Round Lake was BOOMING!!!
I sailed from South end of lake because east side had about 20 yards out from shore a soupy mix of ice cubes, slush and some ice blocks.
When I got to South shore,,,at first some ice about 15feet out, but while I rigged my sail, the wind came up and pushed all the ice onto the shore.

So: I was ;ice free! I sailed for about one hour in 26 steady NW wind, big waves and me pleasantly overpowered on my 5.2 Ezzy Panther and 103 liter.
F2.
56 degrees air temp and sailing on big round Praire Lake, is WHY I still think about windsurfing!

Quetzalcoatl out.
