Some years ago, I was on a Bic 283 cm long windsurf board (69 cm wide and 152 liters)
and I was using a 62 cm. straight fin and a 6.5 meter sail.
Too my surprise the entire board was a foot above the water while I was sailing (I guess air planning)!
In other words there was no contact with the water except for the fin. Thus, well I was moving pretty fast,
but with no board contact with the water,,I had no way to steer,,,just keeping shooting foreward. I guess this was
Hydrofoiling?. So,,,now that Windsurf foiling is a new big "up and coming" water activity,,,,and I can see it looks fun,
but how do you steer the darn think if you have no board contact to tip sail forward, backward (to go downwind, upwind) and
putting foot pressure on board probably doesn't work either to turn board since it's off the water.
Any ideas out there you wind foilers?
Quetzalcoatl perplexed.
Hydrofoiling...on a windsurf board...inadvertantly...
