Gettin' Wacky

Post by Pat Heppert »

Waconia is awesome today on the iceboard. The snow is about 0" - 1", but every once in a while I would hit a 3" drift and slow down. Always kept front foot forward to avoid the catapult. Ice is a little bumpy, but nothing the board can't handle easily. I can't believe no one else is here sailing. Its not Hollywood ice, but sure is fun. I'm trying to keep it under 30 MPH for safety. Come on out and feed your wind crave!

Is that a freeskate? I'm surprised you only had trouble in the really deep snowdrifts and also really surprised the ice wasn't way too rough! Jerry B, Karl and I were on Snowfers on Calhoun this weekend and it was lots of fun but a bumpy ride! I'd have used my freeskate if I knew it was doable. Now the question is what will the surface be like later today and Monday if we get rain this afternoon...

Surprisingly the snow did not bond to the ice much on Waconia so even the few deeper drifts could be blasted through this weekend. Put 100 miles on the iceboat and ice getting better with warm temps today. Only areas that were tough to sail through were where they plowed the road from In town Marina up to the fish houses but there are a few areas you can cross ok.
