I believe since it is a non-powered craft under 12 feet, they are excempt. I have been windsurfing for about 5 years on a heavily patrolled lake (waconia) and never had even a question. Never seen anyone else register either. Not an issue. Where are you planning to go? Low winds this weekend, but have a great time !!!!!

I have a mistral Olympic 96 one design. I believe it is 12' long. Just worried if I'm gonna get hassled or not for no tabs

10' is the magic number out here in Oregon too for not having to buy an "invasive spieces" permit. Looking to get an SS Space Pickel (2014) at 9'-4". Makes a nice utility boat for rescuing your hydrofoil at 3-mile in the gorge. Just gotta find a way around those stupid regs no matter where you are. Iowa seems not to hassle you too much on the border (with NE). One guy got a ticket from a "Super trooper back in '08 and went to court to fight it. Judge laughed at the super trooper and just asked the windsurfer to put buy a sticker and he would drop the ticket.

Win-win for everyone. Super trooper got the most with being paid OT for showing up in court & all. The rest of us just went back to sailing without stickers.
