Re: Mille Lacs Kite Crossing 2015 info?
Hey Chile, I just checked in with Michael Fox and it is indeed the usual first weekend in March: March 6-8.
Some ask why the event is this late in the year but this is a great date as the icehouses are required to be off the ice the weekend before.
Are you the guy that won the event a couple of years ago using a foil kite? What kites are you riding now? The tube kite vs foil kite for winter kiting is certainly an interesting debate especially with the recent PKRA issues. See you and your Posse in March!

Thanks Rob.
Have not done the crossing on ice so looking forward to it. Did it a long time ago on windsurfer when I lived in MN.
Bringing both small LEI and large foils. Playing around with Flysurfer Peak 9m and Speed 3 dlx 15m for light wind. Also tried a buddy chrono 15 last weekend landboarding in 8-10mph. The tips tend to tuck a lot if the bar is let out in light wind so take getting used to. Perhaps could use some tuning, otherwise good speed for the size and huge low end. I can see how these kites can have an advantage over LEI but I hope they're not banned from racing, water or land. IMHO, the arguments against foils for racing on water are pretty weak and even less so on land regarding few options, cost, and safety.
Visiting MN for Xmas and hopefully hook up with some of the crew for snowkiting.
Cheers,
Lon
