Is better for SE wind. Starting a solo session. Shallow sandy water and steadier wind?
Orange element if you feel adventurous.

Re: North shore of waconia...
So, I'd like to say "where was everyone" and "boy was that awesome", but I can't. Probably a lot better than launching out of the east side boat landing that day, since you wouldn't have to slog out past the fluky shore bits. I'll share so that if anyone had a great session out in the middle, then at least I'll know. I was out from about 4:15-6:00.
The wind was SE and gusty, and filled in at times. But the texture of the water was sort of weird...smallish waves that didn't line up all that great, so it was almost impossible to load up a lot of times. I rode a 10, and it was good for most of the time. There is a low spot on the north west side of the lake where the wind funnels through well, and in that 300 yard zone, the waves also cleaned up a bit. See the map posted. It is sandy and shallow all along the shoreline far enough out so that you don't have to worry about jumping into the trees.
It seemed like the wind cleaned up a bit and clocked more south around 6:30 or so - saw someone else out then - but of course I was packed up at that point.
