Lake Ice condition

Post by StrutWear »

How are the lakes around the cities? I have a small lake by work here, Parkers. there are a couple small houses towards the edge of the shoreline. Im guessing that the rest of the lake by now is ok? Its a small lake on top of it. Anyone seeing alot of fisherman on the other lakes recently?

Yesterday we were out on Fish lake in Maple Grove with skates and today we were out on Diamond lake with skates and an 11m kite. Fish lake was really smooth and Diamond's south end and North West end were smooth, the rest was ride able but not desirable.

Happy Holidays to all

Waconia has 6-8". snowmobiles and ATV's out. Fan steady wind today. Lit on a 17.5 machine.

Do you live on Fish Lake? I live on Niagara Lane about 1/4 mile NW of Fish.
Did I see you out there? I drove past and saw 3 people that looked like they were on skates in the middle of the north "bay" of Fish Lk.

Some cars and trucks driving to middle of Pleasant of Annandale. A fisherman decribed them as IDIOTS. :o

I drove by sweed yesterday. The
surface was mostly ice with a few
patches of snow. It wasn't ridable
for skis or snowboards. We all need
to pray for snow. Would it be possible
to play polo on skates with a kite?
The field could stretch from Wayzata
to Excelsior-now, what would we use
for the object and mallet?

Bill,

We live just south of Rogers by Pheasant acres golf course. We wanted to try a different lake, just for the scenery. We use Diamond lake by Rogers quite a bit for winter kiting.

Hey folks, my name is Ken. Just bought my first kite this year and this is my first post. Starting to get the hang of this sport, just looking for more wind. I was on Lake Minnetonka riding on Halstead Bay and Phelps Bay earlier this week. Skating was decent, but patches of snow make it so you don't know what's underneath. Skis worked great with sharp edge. For the most part, this lake re-thawed and re-froze fairly smooth after the snow.

Halstead Bay has a public access on the NW corner off of Halstead Drive. The bay has about a 1 mile east-west section and about a 1.5 mile north-south section.

You can also launch into Spring Park Bay across from Tonka Grill and BBQ at the landing, if you head South across the bay you run into Goose Island, and then just pass that is Phelps Bay.

Hope to meet some of you soon!
Ken
