I have not personally checked it, but heard reports that about half of WBL is safe. We have been iceboating on nearby Bald Eagle Lake for the last few days, which is 5 - 6 inches over the entire surface. Stay away from island tips.

better to have bare ice for a few weeks to get good and thick before the snow, which will insulate it. A little more thickening and then the big storm will hit, and we'll have a playground for the rest of the winter. psych!

I walked out from Bellaire today. That part of the lake is snow covered but its not deep. There are a couple of inches of snow. It seemed to be bonded fairly well. The wind was light - about 7 mph but made a number of runs with a 10m Frenzy. It would have been pretty fun with a little more wind. It was my first time out this season.

I don't know exactly how deep the ice is. Lots of fish houses on this part of the lake. I estimate half the people walked out or rode ATVs while the other half were driving out in cars, trucks and minivans. I almost drove out myself but decided not to.

Hey y'all. I've been kiting for a few years now and lurking on the site just as long, but this is my first post.

I rode WBL all day on Monday! Cars and trucks all over it. Snow wasn't bonded but you could get enough of an edge to have fun and stay up wind.
