Question for SS experts : safety leash to depower cord

Slingshot recently sent me a replacement bar and lines for my broken T3 bar, but I think the replacement is a T2 bar as it has an above the bar safety leash attachment . That already got my daughter into a dangerous situation after she had to release the chicken loop, that resulted in kite loops .
In trying to do a poor mans conversion to a below the bar safety system, someone suggested that we attach the safety leash to the depower cord, just above the knob.This would seem to be ok so long as the knob does not pull off . Does anyone have experience with this as a temporary fix,until we can get a proper conversion to the real T3 bar system done?

Hey David, I'm not an SS expert, just a loyal user of their products. Rather than attach the leash as you suggest, I'd call SS and explain the situation. If they mistakenly sent a wrong part my experience is they will make right on it asap.
