Gorgeous Pepin

Post by Randy »

Thanks, Pete, for putting those Gorge-like images in my head. Judd and I sailed ideal conditions at Maiden Rock yesterday. I love this spot...bald eagles, barges, bluffs, trains, and rolling swell. Many times got confused about whether or not we were in the Gorge or Minnesota. Glorious blue sky sunshine and 25-35mph winds straight down the chute.

Yea, it was a pretty sweet out there. Only sailed briefly due to some commitments. Did the 6.0 and 125 again searching for some "space" time. Too bad the ramps were favoring my weak jumping side. But yea, Pepin is a favorite. Hope to run into you guys somewhere, sometime this season.

I had three consecutive days of 20-30 mph and Pepin was the best by far.

I have never ridden there either but would like to. I am told it works well in S or SE, or in a northerly. You have to hike in, or get there by boat or jetski. I would like to go there on my jetski; launch the jetski somewhere north of there in a southerly wind, anchor on the north side of the bar, and kite off the end of the sandbar.

Can't you also launch from the rest area or the public access boat ramp just north of Lake City? Maybe the Pepin "Regulars" could confirm this. I'd like to try it some day. I've heard the river currents may be treacherous right now with all the heavy rains and flooding that has been going on.

that was off of the lake city point, right in the heart of lake city. It was nukin and i was superr over powered so I came in! but yeah it was crankin, when
it gets off on a SW it just hauls down the river and cranks like the gorge.
