In Dubuque right now, thinking about driving the 1.5hrs over to Madison. Here, I have a few alfalfa fields that took a pretty big hit yesterday and last night with the warm temps. The snow is comming down but blowing off of most of the hills as fast as it falls.
If the snow is deep on the lake at Madison, I was thinking about hitting the flat (I hope to never make that statement again).
How is the ice?
Drifts on the lake?

For ice conditions in Wisconsin I have heard that anything south of Stevens Point is sketchy. Friends over in Milwaukee said the ice is not worth the risk. Northern Wisconsin even has some hit or miss spots with ice conditions.

On Shell Lake now 2 hrs east of metro near Spooner. Quads are killing me along with my frozen smile. This will be my go to until metro is dumped on.

Just reporting conditions.
Except Mendota and Monona lakes (which should be safer after a few days). The other lakes are okay (Waubesa and Kosh). Snow is okay but if we get the forecasted 6 inches followed by the wind Sunday and Monday... Madison will be money this weekend.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
A WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM IOWA COUNTY...TO MADISON...TO
MILWAUKEE...AND SOUTH TO THE ILLINOIS BORDER FOR SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
OF 5 TO 7 INCHES FRIDAY AND FRIDAY EVENING. 3 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW
IS FORECAST NORTH OF MADISON AND MILWAUKEE WHERE A WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY WILL LIKELY BE NEEDED. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND
FRONT WILL GENERATE THE SNOW ON FRIDAY.

Re: Madison, worth the 1.5hr drive?
I finally had a good day out here! A spot just south of Sundown Mountain ski hill that I got permission for turned from what I thought would be sketchy riding into some big air/near gliding last night. Nothing to use as a ramp but the hillside, so I just tried to time my jumps with the cars that were driving by. I hit a few 30+yard distances. Headed back there and I am looking forward this next 5"+ of snow that is going to come down with lighter winds and hopefully more adequately cover the frozen base we have here now.
Starting to like Dubuque and I cannot leave for the flats now that this is coming:
