Wind iPhone apps
Anyone have a good one?
I tried "Wind Geo", but it's not as nice as I expected. Supposedly you can get the wind readings for anywhere, but the maps are not labeled and you can't search.

I love WindAlert. it gives me current winds at various locations and the prediction for what is going to happen

Wind readings: I love Aeroweather because you get the most recent readings and the direction in degrees. With pro you can also get radars and some other things.
Radar:
For ipad - Intellicast HD is real nice. I'm still searching for the ideal radar app for the iphone. I've tried several that are very slow loading. Others you just can't zoom in to enough detail. You can use weather underground but it always goes into mobile app mode and doesn't let you zoom in much. I recently discovered iweathr - it's pretty good, just can't zoom way in but it's free.
Has anyone tried RadarScope? It looks real good but is $10.
Or do you have another good radar app that load fast and allows you to zoom in (e.g., is the hail going to hit my house or go 5 miles north)?
Forecasts: Unisys weather enthusiast is decent to see the 10 day MRF but it's just as easy to use website of this and other favorites like the noaa ruc.

WindAlert is nice in theory, but the local stations are not very consistent. They often say down or late.
Re: Wind iPhone apps
intellicast is nice, also see a weather track app that looks really interesting but is 20 bucks. Still like the weatherspark.com for the laptop and comparing different locations along with iwindsurf/ikitesurf

It's not quite an "app", but I made a little web app I can access on my phone (or computer). I really like those NOAA hourly graphs, and I wanted them to show up for the whole week, at once. I love the quick links on the LAKAWA home page, but on my phone it takes a lot of clicking to get where you want.
I can add more spots if you have ideas.

Re: Wind iPhone apps
cool and useful page!
Re: Wind iPhone apps
Added more lakes and further refined the page.
Re: Wind iPhone apps
Nicely done on the web site. I like the NOAA for a quick view into the future and this is a lot easier than going to their web site. Works good on the Droid as well. Might want to add Minnetonka (Flying Cloud Airport) for when the snow hits. Since I don’t see a PayPal donation link for the “Netdewt” app, I’ll buy you a beer if we run into each other somewhere.

Re: Wind iPhone apps
Thank you. I hope it helps. I added Mtka and split Mille Lacs into 3 spots, after I realized it is in 3 different counties. I don't pretend to have any wisdom on this sort of thing. I felt a need to a simpler weather app, and this is the only way I know how to do that.
Would this be a bad idea? It would allow me to get a shorter domain name for it, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes.davepark wrote:Since I don’t see a PayPal donation link
Re: Wind iPhone apps
That was just a lame attempt at free “App” humor. Thanks for adding Tonka.
Re: Wind iPhone apps

I wasn't planning on it, but I saw that ".info" domains were uber-cheap on my webhost, so I went with it. Quick and easy.
