Kite boat to rescue

Post by matthewp »

On Thursday afternoon I went for a quick run on my 11.0 sail on Medicine lake. The wind filled in while I was rigging so I was over powered. On my third run I heard an almighty crack and was send straight into the water. Upon returning to the board I discovered my boom had broken at the head.

I was about 200 yards from the shore on the wrong side of the lake. I was faced with derigging on the water or a difficult swim dragging the flaccid sail. Luckily a kiter was learning with a boat 200 yards away and the boat saw me waving. Pete (I think, sorry if I got the name wrong) gave me a tow back to shore and I was able to swap out for my 9.0 and sail for 80 more minutes. It ended up being a great session. Thanks Pete.
