Terry D, Bionic Man!

Post by Eric P »

Hi Everyone-we wanted to let you all know that Anna's dad (Terry "the doc" Dunklee) went under the knife this morning to have knee replacement surgery. He has been "kicking around" the idea for some time, and it was a very difficult decision for him to make. He has spent a great deal of time worrying about what he will and will not be able to do in the future, and obviously one of his main concerns was his involvement in the wind community. While he was worried about possibly losing the physical ability to kite and windsurf, I think he was far more concerned about missing out on the sense of community that exists within this group. I know he is proud to call so many of you friends. Feel free to inundate him with messages of encouragement as he begins the arduous rehab process. His email address is: tmdunklee AT comcast.net

Sounds like they rebuilt his knee be better, faster, stronger! Thanks Terry for being there for us after situations where things don't go exactly as planned. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope to see you slashing the waves soon.

Terry, AKA Steve Austin, you've provided great advice to so many of us after we've broken ourselves...and thanks to you we're all still here, playing away. Follow your own advice, do the rehab and I'm sure you'll be back playing with us soon. Looking forward to sharing a wave face with you again soon.

Terry!
I didn't know your knees were that much trouble by seeing your smooth style. Mine aren't good, but somehow always felt OK while surfing. Afterward, the adrenaline kicks in, right? I sure hope that the physics of the kite helps keep the stress off your new knee and calls for an even smoother surf style in your future. There are a few dozen of us lined up to be the first to grab the rescue vehicles just in case. Milly will be waiting.
Have good progress on your rehab! :D

Terry,

Wow, I had no idea. You are a tough guy to be out there on FH slashing it up like you do with a bad knee and all.

I hope you can plow through this rehab well and be back on the water soon.

Hope to see you back on the water soon, Rehab is always the key and I know you will be back on the water sooner than the doc's predict. We will save you a spot on the beach and water for your Speedy return. One question - Which orthopedic are you going with ?

My most memorial rides are with Terry in the waves at Reddy Creek. 8) I love how he shares the stoke on & off the water. A lot of us have been sidelined with recoveries, but are back in the game. You will be too, Terry :) Visions of riding with you soon again.

Thanks for all the good vibes and wonderful words of encouragement. And my thanks to Anna and Eric for capturing my thoughts so well. With the expertise Dr Thomas Comfort of St Croix orthopedics, and the compassionate care of the staff of Lakeview Hospital, I returned home today, hobbling with a cane, but having remarkably little pain. Hoping to share a wave or just a chat on the beach with all of you soon.

Terry, Glad you took the plunge! Confident you'll be a model rehab subject, and be riding again in no time. All the karma you've stored up, giving me & 1/2 the rest of us free consults, the Gods are surely smiling down on you. Hope to see you soon.

Hey Terry,

Recover quickly!!! I expect to hear the bionic man sound of nananananan when you carving by me on the waves at Reddy this summer. Your laid back friendly smile will be needed on the water soon. Thanks again for letting me crash at your place a few time! See you soon! I hope my knees hold out as long as yours did...;)
