Lake Calhoun

Post by JoshErnst »

How much snowkiting activity is there on Lake Calhoun this time of year?
How is the snow cover right now?

I live in the NE Metro and usually ride out on WBL and Big Marine.
Any tips for parking or things to watch out for on Calhoun would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

There is typically quite a bit of kiting going at calhoun during this time of year. Snow was great the other week after the 4-5 inch storm we got, but haven't been out there recently.

I would avoid going to Calhoun with any sort of wind coming out of the N/NW - the city buildings make the wind really gusty and more difficult to ride with. However, if there is a south wind, it can be quite pleasant :)

There is usually street parking along the road circling the lake, but also pay lots if you don't want to walk as far.
