109th Fields
Anyone make it out Saturday or Sunday to the fileds? I was out on Saturday in the storm, it was fun other than the wind being so punchy and gusty, I lasted about one and a half hours then called it quits, I couldn't get out Sunday, I probably missed a better day Sunday. Huge drifts and deep snow, I need to get my back mountain board out to really have some fun out in the deep snow. Mike or Alex did you guys get out?
Re: 109th Fields
didn't hit the fields but returned to WBL on Sunday. Incredible conditions. We are set for the winter. Massive drifts, bottomless snow, pure blue overhead. Crashes were softer than water. Never pierced through the snow to the ice.
What a gift. Psyched for season.

Man wished I could have been there, had some family stuff to do, I could have gotten out of it but felt obligated, I don't think that will happen again, just waiting for some good wind now! I just repaired the 17M Fuel I have had since 2005 or 2004, can't wait to get out and try it, hope it still pulls like a truck, can't wait!
Re: 109th Fields
I made the trek up to Rum River Park on Saturday per Travii's post - the directions and maps were excellent!
It was like hitting the promised land after getting lost in the woods a couple times...
A pretty big field with some rolling hills.
The wind was really gusty, however, so the kiting was challenging. The lack of visibility made it hard to see the terrain - and the ground, but it was a fun trip - just gorgeous out there!
It will be nice to try again on a sunny day

Saturday was crazy but a riot all by my lonesome. Tried to lure Leah out but she was wiser than me. Glad I went, about 3-4pm. Challenging, gusty, very unique terrain.
Sunday the terrain was a little better since it had hardened up but I didn't get out until 2 ish and wind was light. Should have brought the 20M Best circa 2003. I tracked it up as much as I could with the light wind.
Great terrain. With the suspicious ice at some spots I'm stoked to get after it again soon. Love the bottomless drifts.
On my way into the office this morning it looked like someone tracked up the East side of Medicine Lake? Who was out there? Take an ice thickness readings it's fairly shallow in that whole bay but I haven't been down yet to take ice thickness readings.

Cool beans, the wind does say it might hit 10 mph tonight around 6 pm but unfortunately I have some stuff to do. You can count on me being up there the next time the wind blows. I get off work at 2:30 so the next time the wind is blowing I'm heading out straight from work.
Re: 109th Fields
i just hit up the rum terrain. it had some gusts rolling through it. Couldn't get out though as my pump froze up. any one know of any good winter pump lube? has anyone tried marvel mystery oil in their pump at all?
