I STOPPED BY BELLAIRE THIS AFTERNOON...There were ice fishers dragging out gear on foot. The ice surface was pebble texture with some smaller humps from melted snow mounds. If the Friday evenng snowfall bonds, it should be great this weekend for kiting, but not driving onto the lake, yet. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling the urge to work out the kinks, and soon. :?

People have been kiting and ice boating for over a week on Swede lake. Upper lake Minnetonka has been frozen for over a week. I saw three ice boats boats on Spring Park bay. I talked to ice fishermen coming off Spring Park bay and main upper near Howards point last night 12/3; They told me upper lake has 5.5 inches of good clear ice. Safe for kiting. We just need some wind. STAY OFF LOWER LAKE for now. Main lower lake has only been frozen for 2 days. Smaller bays may be safe. But main lower lake won't be safe for a while yet. If the wind out perfoms forcast today. Cresent beach would be a good launch for the nnw winds.

Calhoun cannot be safe. I drive by it every morning and it was open water until Thursday. I would wait a bit on Calhoun.

How is Cannon Lake? WInd looks better down South for Sunday but not sure where to go.

WE RODE WBL OFF BELLAIRE ON SATURDAY. The ice is thick to the West, but there may still be thin spots to the East as there are currents and springs by the gap off Manitou Island. Fun seeing Geoff & Mike B, out riding. Saw a thin ice drowning death near LeSeur on the news, so be careful on lakes to the South. Also, an ATV went through near Ft. Ripley. Let's be safe!
