WACONIA TODAY

Post by Tighe »

Forecasts look stellar. Miss the place. All the great sessions on Mille and Superior this year have kept me away from this local gem. Looking forward to wandering through the countryside and making my way out there. NW is pretty sweet on the Waccy

Hope some others can come out and play.

You just want more people to come out and have beers afterward.

...which sounds good, too.

I would luv to come out and try the Rally but my play window is tight so I'm hitting Med Lk close to my house by noon.

Sun feels good, enjoy the day riders.

Great day. So nice to be bootie and gloveless in October.

Thanks to all those that helped out with my little issue on the lake. Thanks Dennis for the long drag in, Nathan for keeping an eye on my kite and most of all for Jeff for grabbing the kite as it hit shore and transporting my butt back. Thanks John for checking for me. I know many of you sacrificed your sessions for that, and I appreciate it.

Lesson of the day, if you accidentally cut a line, make sure it's not the one your leash is attached to BEFORE you attempt to flag your kite. DOH!!!

No problem at all! I am glad that everything worked out the way it did.

What can you do when your center (leash) line does snap? How does a kite usually behave when this happens? Just curious...

It just wouldn't fly. When a back line breaks usually the kite starts to spin. If you discover your front leash line is broken, AND you have oh shit handles on the ends of your floats then grab one of those prior to popping your QR. If no oh shit handles then I guess you have two choices, break free from the kite all together or start pulling on one of the remaining lines till the others go slack. Be real careful about the line you've pulled in. Be prepared to release the line if the kite starts to launch. I would pull in the other front line.

Thanks again for saving my kite and carting my butt back upwind Jeff. I owe you one.
