We're trying to gather the crew for a free ride, lessons, jam session tomorrow, Sunday. Some photographers are going to come out and try to get some shots. We're still trying to figure out the best location. Will post it by moring.

come out and play.

Unfortunately due to to my daughter's ski racing, weekends are getting more & more tied up. I end up doing most kiting on weekdays. I think I'll be out next weekend though. By then the snow should be set up nicely. Whatever......just having snow is going to be great!

I would love to come play. I have the day clear until about 5:00. Let's just see where the best wind and snow is.

What's the story, Tighe? Are you heading out to do lessons/fun/general-kite-wackiness anywhere? I have a couple of people that would love to get out and try it, and the trainer kites are still in the car...

I take it that last snowfall didn't exactly bond to the ice, though.

Hey, Tom L.

What team does your daughter ski for? Orono and/or USSA? I coach the Northfield team and at a Welch Village Christmas camp worked with a few athletes from Orono (#1 boys and girls seeds). I know what you mean about ski racing taking up a lot of time. Once the season is over I may try a little kiteskiing.

Well, today was a little sketchy on my board, with gusty winds and minimal snow. I got a few good runs in until the wind died down.

On a more positive note, I managed to spread the kiting word to one more person. :!: Expect to get another newbie for lessons, Tighe. I think his name was Jim (bad with names...sorry). :!:

Pray for the motherload tomorrow!!!

I got the call late last night from Alex who said the snow wasn't bonding to the ice so we headed to the Polo Fields for lessons. We got four new people stoked and riding. Kevin, Josh, Joe and John, you guys did great.

I appreciate the offer Coach, though it ended up not needing an additional instructor.

What happened elsewhere? I think they got considerable snow up north.

We have got about 6" so far and still coming down in Brainerd. You know and I feel happy, but more relieved than anything else to just finally have a decent blast of the white stuff.

I rode today for about 9 hours straight all by myself on a lake near the NW corner of Lake Mille Lacs called Farm Island. I felt more like a snowplow today than anything else really. It was weird having that kind of snow to ride in. I love doing that high speed powerslide, disappearing act-white out thing...never get tired of that one. My 12m Frenzy was doing a fine job of making it happen.

Guys and gals- It is official...Brainerd has got the goods. If anyone wants to come up this week, give me a holler if you would like company. I know of a few spots...

To Bill S:

My daughter skis on Gilboa/USSA. I used to race at Welch all the time back in the 70's when I raced USSA.

I've had my daughter out kiting on skis witha 3.3 Skyfoil and she picked it up right away. Just hard to find time for an 11 year old to get out with school & sports. Us old guys (speaking for myself) seem to have much more time to goof off!
