Mille Lacs/The Day After

Post by tbayray »

Sunday night was not the same from sharing a nice cozy room at The Garrison Inn with my fellow Canadians to last night in my van. But waking up was well worth it. 25-30mph winds SE gusting alot more I'm sure. After a breakfast at Svoboda's, I had a 5 hour session on a 5.0 and 100 liter board, That was the smallest I had. Hard to believe I was the lone Canadian never mind the lone windsurfer. Not even a kiter to be seen. But I have the week off, and with wind in the forecast, I wasn't going anywhere. My session ended around 4:00pm with still much more wind on the water but one can only handle so much. After my session, I went back to The Garrison Inn and gladly paid $3.00 for a hotub and shower. A nice way to end off the day. Take advantage of this after a cool session on the lake. I will make my way slowly down to Fondu Lac for Kevin' race at Wind Power and will see some of you again before the sailing season ends. Great to be in Minnesota riding the wind & waves with my U.S. neighbors even though everyone had to head back after Mille Lacs Challenge.

See ya soon...tbayray
At one time, a lost Canadian windsurfer who came to Minnesota to compete in regattas. Can be found sailing on a lake in Canada known as "Superior". From Thunder Bay, Ontario known as "tbayray to some Minnesota sailors thanks to Mike Fox.

Yo Ray! Just like Mille to take a break and then fire up with force. I would've been wasted on my 11M kite or 11M sail
Had a nice sesh back here yesterday but probably should have not gone out due to being away all weekend...sorry honey ;-).
Enjoy the midwest!

Way to go Ray! I couldn't make it this year with the date pushed up, but felt revived reading your post. I had that experience last year after the Crossing, with sustained 45-50mph winds at Izaty's. Something good to remember whenever an event is scheduled, free yourself up for the Monday after...it's bound to be good.
Ride...just be it!
