Alexandria

So is there seriously any good place to kite there - especially on a south wind? Milly looks iffy. Ottertail is great, but 3.5 hours away.

In Alexandria on a southerly we kite at Sandy Beach on lake Miltona, it is perfect. Miles of fetch and a shallow launch.

lat 46.056
lon -95.373

Though with Ottertail being only 50 miles away and a good wind forecasted it really can't be beat. That whole side of the lake is shallow for hundreds of yards out so you never have to body drag back to your board.

Let's see how the forecast is for Milly tomorrow morning, but the other good option is Green Lake by Spicer... We went there last year in S, SE and we had a blast.

Check this out http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... 4.9386&e=0

Green Lake is around 1.5 hs from the cities.

We launched from the DNR boat launch at the NE corner. There is a small beach area.

11-14 AT Green Lake does not sound too exciting. My vote is for Ottertail or Lake in Alex....

NW corner of the state is where the wind is. The low will be moving across the North Dakota and Canadian Border and then heading up towards Hudson Bay.

My guess is that Mille will be light. The low has slowed down and then turning north.

We can see what the forecast is in the morning... I might think about staying the night at Ottertail on Sunday or at Mille after the session on Sunday and then kite Mille on Monday if the forecast holds.

Mother Nature will tell us in the morning....

Ouch, it hurt!! When I left for work this morning, the forecast for Green Lake was showing gusts of 30mph and all day I was super excited about those 30mph... now I see it and it is only showing 14mph. Well, for sure I'm going to wake up in the morning, check the wind and drive to where everybody else goes.

I too will check in the morning. If Mille is 16mph or better for a base, I'll head there, else I'm thinking of checking out Miltona in Alex, if it doesn't look good continue on to Ottertail. Unless of course the forecast changes for Spicer

Hope to be on the road just after 6a

decided on Mille Lacs for today. Alex may be a bit more but looks like plenty at Mille from a good direction.

enjoy the day where ever it finds you

Waking up at Ottertail after leaving Mille and Reddy Creek at 1:45 pm Saturday. Picked up a Stranded kite on my way there. Went out on 14 first but was too over powered. Ed the gracious host rigged his 11 for me and out I went again. It was nice to get a session even if it was 7 hours after I left home. Wind is blowing again and woke me up. Maybe a morning session here then afternoon session at Mille on way home..
I feel for the crew at Mille Sunday whom I heard got skunked...

Diego, Luiz and I had fun at Miltona. Sandy, sandy shallow bottom along the north shore for 100 yards out. Wind was up and down, didn't get to the 30 forecasted, but was enough for medium / big kites and some early runs at the windsurfing stuff. Luiz got to dial in some kiting, Diego got to drive the strapless surfboard for the first time, I got to see what a 16 is like jumping (floaty, eh?).
Beautiful sunny, shorts day.

After a short stay at Mille, I too headed to Ottertail. We were there around 1:00. Great winds, warmth and energy on the water. Everyone was boosting big. so much fun

Thank you Ed for hosting all of us and pulling out the grill.

good time
