I always wondered about that. There have been numerous students over the years asking if skis would work under a kite... seemed possible, specially since Cory started out with Kiteski back in the 90s, and kiteskiing in the winter works so well.

Cool that they proved it was possible, but after watching that video, I'm more convinced that the single plank is the way to go.

Very Cool! I think the alpine boots in the water would be a problem for me though!

haha great photo. i would love to show up at the beach with that setup. is that a 60 inch bar? looks safe.

Pretty funny yes, but Cory Roeseler is credited as one of the founders of this sport. In the Early 90's he and his father had a company called Kiteski in the Gorge. I remember seeing him take some amazingly long flights, compared to us windsurfers. If the kite went down he'd reel the kite in, launch it just above his head and reel it out and go. He was staying upwind, though the kite relaunch was a major hassle. When he teamed up with a crew on Maui and worked with Bruno Legaignoux's inflatable kite, the sport was born.
