Kiting in Houston, Tx

Post by shera »

Just got back from kiting around the Houston area. Not bad at all....headed to Texas City at the levee the first couple of days. Nice grassy rigging area and shallows out a mile or two. Choppy like MN, good group of folks there and great learning area. Headed to Galveston Island State Park the next two days and rode the waves right from the camp site. You can basically kite from anywhere on the beach....

I would recommend this spot.....flights are cheap!

Check out the pics in the gallery....

LEAH, My son lives there, so I usually try for a few sessions at Texas City whenever I visit. The Guy who runs XL kites is a former MNsotan & just got press for doing the downwinder from SPI. I wanted to try the Galveston waves, but didn't know where to kite, and spent the afternoon looking for the launch. Let me know the next time you're heading down, & maybe we can connect, or you can tip me off to waveriding on the Island.
