Just North Padre Island

Padre Island National Seashore is on the north part of the island. I think that really only closes out Bird Island, which no one kites on anyway (bad wind coming off the island).

S. Padre still has the three main spots (North flats, South Beach, Holly Beach).

That would really suck if they closed off North Flats. Fortunately it's being leased by South Padre Island Windsurfing and they do a great job controlling the area! BTW, now until spring break S. Padre is empty and hotels are dirt cheap. Wind always blows!

By far, the BEST FLAT WATER kiting in the U.S. is South Padre Island

yes, I have read that it is only really being enforced in the Corpus Christi, Bird Island basin area. SPI has not been affected. Respect and working with the local sailors will ensure that it won't going forward.
