Movie Night

Post by JAE »

Ok, this isn't really wind sports related, but I know there are some climbers out there and we all have an adventurous side. This Thursday night the Minnesota Climbers Association (MCA) is hosting a premier of the climbing flick Core by Chuck Fryburger. We are doing it for a fundraiser for the MCA. The funds will be used to secure access at our local crags, develop areas and possibly acquire crags.

It’s at the Riverview theater at 9:15 Thursday night (tomorrow). Here is a link with more info.

At least check out the trailer at the link above.

Hey Jeff, thanks for posting this. I just watched this crazy movie at a friends house. The last send is absolutely ridiculous. We kiters think we are hard core sometimes, but then we are reminded of just what it takes to be truly hard, and the people profiled in this movie are just that, Hard Core. And STRONG.

Kiting and Windsurfing can be powerful and inspiring, but I still think that climbing takes the cake as far as what you need to do to be truly the best of the best. The problem is that if you do not climb, this film will seam slow and methodical. That is because to climb at this level you need to be slow and methodical. If you start going to fast, you die.

If you have ever climbed, go see this film, it is quite good. If you haven't, you may not get it.
