So Im getting my kite on monday, actually two. F-one 9m and 13m, but Id love to get out and meet some people from the boards while I try to figure this sport out. Im in Winona, and the cities are a bit of a hike for me.
Id love to go this weekend, but its finals for me and I wont be done until wednesday. and I have all week off next week because of finals and next sunday is my 21st, so Ill be on my kite among other things
P.S. anyone who wants to join will be witness to a pretty funny show of smacks and slams Im sure
If you are thinking La Crosse, Lake Petenwell is a little further and might be a better choice than Pepin. As a beginner, you really want a place where you can let the smacks and slams happen and still be able to stand up and walk back up wind if needed (or to shore). Not too many spots around Pepin allow for that.
alright, lake winona seems large enough and petenwell isnt too far away. its actually on the way to my parents house where Ill be going in two weekends. So Ill take a look at it.
windthrash....let me know if you go to the Malmo!!! i get off work at 3...possibly even earlier if i can get out. please text me at 651 274 8338. also i will provide you with Gas Money!!!!!!!!!!!
Go big or go home. whatever you do in life, do it like your pro.

There are an active group of us who ride in Lax, the spots here are lake onalaska and south of town in stoddard. Stoddard is good on S, SSW & SW ( favoring SW), Lake Onalaska is good for NW wind. Both spot are good but have issues and are not the best to learn. If you can ride up wind you will be ok.
For learning go the Petenwell.....there are spots on the east side of the lake that offer shallow water for long ways. The Lure Bar on the north end will good on saturday with SW wind.
Petenwell has 6 good launch spots and can riden in any wind. It is worth the drive!
We may ride Stoddard this saturday down past the boat landing. There is a Ball diamond to set up and ride from. FYI it close to the main channel and has current. Another FYI...by mid june it's over for this spot due to weeds.
Thanks Dave,
Id love to come out tomorrow, but my Kites wont get here until Monday. I've talked with a friend of mine about going to Petenwell on Wednesday when my finals are done at 3. Im getting quite anxious, Ill be going down to Milwaukee in two weekends and may meet up with some people from the Kiteboard Milwaukee website.
Im getting super anxious to get out and start riding. This summer is going to be amazing
