Weekend east winds - where to ride

Will probably have to stay local this weekend. Ramsey could be good tomorrow in SE and if it's straight East on Saturday Bellaire will be good as the winds get's a little venturi boost in between Bellaire Beach and Manitou Island.

NO work on Friday - either heading to Ramsey or Mille - Does Ramsey have shallow water to ride in for the wind direction ?

Ramsey has plenty of launch space because of low water level, but not much shallow. in case you were planning on teaching someone.

Hi, I'm new to Minnesota and just getting back into kiteboarding after 9 years. I never really had my up wind skills dialed, so I'm not sure how I will do tomorrow, which will be my first day in all that time. I'm thinking of starting at Mahtomedi and going downwind to Ramsey. If I can stay upwind great, if I can that shouldn't be the end of the world.

If I have to much work I might not make it tomorrow, but definitely can make it out on Saturday. Hopefully I will meet some of you, so you can show me how it's done.

Welcome to Minnesota!
If you do that down winder make sure you have the proper drysuit/wetsuit for your journey. The water is still very cold and the wind on the Mahtomedi side will not be good. It may be a good idea to try Mille Lacs first as it's a much more forgiving lake to work on your upwind skills.

Welcome PaulPaulMan - where ya from?

I was just thinking 9 years ago?! Is that possible? Then I realized I bought my first set up in 2000 from Matt Bartell. An 8.5 Wipika 2-line FreeAir and a 7' HammerFish "kiteboard" which was the same shape as the ubiquitous Naish Sky Pirate.
