HOW WAS RAMSEY?

Post by pbeytien »

Did u make it out to Ramsey, Mike? I drove around WBL on Sat, saw a couple of ice boats out, but it seemed they were staying close to shore. I guess I've been spooked by all the reports of thin ice. Saw a news report where a guy used a cordless drill w/ a long wood bit to guage the thickness...plan to try that. Have been out on my ice cruiser along w/ Jud, Pat, Stan, & once Dianne showed... Jud makes those FREESKATES look like true windancing....wish I could be half that good. I'm going to try attaching some channel iron to a snowboard, to see if it will "edge' on the ice. need more kite practice first. Its supposed to freeze again by New Years... Hope to see you out there!!! Jim N.

Had a great time at Ramsey today. There were about 6 freeskaters (at least I think that's what they're called--look like big skateboards w/runners and a sail), 4 kiters (skates and skis), and a hovercraft! From noon to 1pm it was fairly sparse, but from 1-2:30 it got nicely crowded.

Was on my 1m trainer with ice skates to get the feel of being pulled on skates and hope to try my 7.5 naish in the next couple days. Hope to see Terry and Tim out there again!

So that was you guys on the trainer kites. Kevin O and I were kiting mostly in that corner just W of the beach. There was some slushy snow there for decent edging on skis. I suspect most of that is gone now. See you next time.

Yea i went to look at the lake today, and almost all the snow was gone near ramsey. I decided to ice skate instead of kite.
