Duluth heaven.

Post by Randy »

Hope somebody's getting some water time up there today. Sunshine, 20-30mph, and 45 degrees. I wasn't paying close enough attention and now it's too late for me.

I am watching the lake roll from St.Mary's Hospital, beautiful day. My wife gave birth to #3 this morning, Rowan Margaret. She is 9lbs, 6oz. All 3 of my kids have been born on sunny NE sail worthy days. No better Oman could a windsurfer receive, in my opinion. I'm predicting future wave killers! :D

I got a sesh in at about noon for an hour, it sucked because i had to leave (school). right when it was getting good! :( It was flat water too! I was sitting there waiting for the wind, and then it just hit at about noon, but the waves werent built yet, it was awesome!

I was pretty hesitant on wisconsin pt. after jeff's incident, but i made sure i had no valuables in my car.

Congratulations Ben!! My first grand daughter was born May 20 last year, the windiest statewide I can recall. Something very special about holding calm in the face and temptation of such awesome sailing conditions. Like you, I feel it can only be a great oman to more opportunities on the water. I vision the day when they'll be looping off Park Point.
Dave, glad you got a piece of it.

Jeff, Joe and I all got some riding in, the waves built really fast… the wind started around noon-one and by 5:30 there were a few shoulder height waves on the edge of the break! :D

It was a tough day to ride. Joe and I showed up and pumped 9’s only to have it die off to around 15-20… so we quickly switched, I went to a 14 and was good right at first but it switched NNE and came back up to 20-30… I was so over powered I kept getting lofted while trying to ride the waves.

Jeff showed up and went out on my 9 and forgot to zip his dry before getting into the water!  But after that he seemed to be getting a good ride!

Hopefully we get some more on Monday and Tuesday! I’m thinking about trying to ride some flat water at the boathouse/ sailing club…

today would probably be good for that flat water sesh in the bay. :)

The boat house/sailing club is on the bayside of parkpoint, it's right before you get to the park. you will see a bunch of small sailboats in the grass and a crusty old building...

I'm not sure if it will be any good there. The wind will be coming over a building and maybe a few houses, I have always wanted to try it though!
