Looking for kites to demo

Post by jeff1 »

So, I'm not holding out much hope that I will get my gear back. I replaced my dry suit, and I have gear for cold weather now.

I am thinking of trying to ride a few brands/models before buying my replacement kites. I don't know if anyone has open water other than duluth, but if your planing to ride and wouldn't mind letting me demo your kites. I am interested in replacing at least one kite soon, as all I have left to ride are foils and a 6M inflatable.

Maybe I should drag a grill and brats out to the beach and set up an event. Maybe it would work better if I also had a cooler of beverages as well.

Hope to be back on the water soon.

Jeff

I have some kites you can borrow or demo, I am thinking I would like to grab a sesh on the mother in the next week or two depending on conditions.

shoot me a email nathan.borer@gmail.com

hope they still find your gear tho! thats a bummer. I was wondering were you out kiting when it was broke into? is it the spot where you have to walk down the steep bluff? if so thats a great spot for NW and would be a bummer if ya have to worry about your ride getting jacked well your out shredding.

Jeff, I'd encourage your to check out the Advisors post in the Knowledge section of this site. It lists most of the team riders in the area. Call or email them and rack their brains about their gear. Most will do what they can to help you check out the latest models.

I have most of the Slingshot lineup which is always available for demo. I'm off to Padre in a few weeks so most likely won't be getting out here til after we return on the 19th.

If Slingshot ends up being one of your top picks, let me know and I can see if I can get you a deal based on your situation. No guarantees but worth trying.

Thanks for the offers and advice. I will probably not have the patience to wait and demo gear, but I will take your advice Tighe and contact the team riders directly.

I think I will have new gear by the time you guys get back from padre.

To answer Nate's question, I was at the kiting spot where you walk down the steep bluff. I was not kiting (too light), I was hiking the beach with the wife and dog. But, if your comin for a sesh in duluth let us know before you come.

The forecast is looking really good up here in the next few days! NWS is calling for sun, temps in the 50-63 range and strong SE wind. I’m thinking the mother is going to take over and provide us with a nice steady NE wind… but you never know until it happens.

I am thinking Tuesday is going to be one of those perfect sunny days to ride on the mother! My best guess is 15-25 NE but the waves won’t be too huge… on the days that the lake turns a SE into a NE it only blows NE from the apostle islands to Duluth.

Whether it turns NE or blows south I plan on riding Monday and Tuesday… come up if you can!

Hey Jeff,

I know we're a ways away in Madison, but I have a lot of demo kites all in one place. Some are 2009 and most 2010 models.

We're expecting good winds all this week and you can ride back to back to back til your arms fall off.

Cabrinha, Epic, Slingshot and Wainman.

Some of them are listed below as demos that I'm selling off now. The others (Epic and Wainman) I have in stock for the most part.

Good luck no matter what you end up getting. Sucks about the kites and hopefully karma will meet up with these guys in a big way.
