Anyone thinking of trying to get out friday? Where is the decent snow? Diamond? Even though the launch is on the windward side of the lake.

Pelican.

Not sure about the availibility of launch parking but the snow is better there than Diamond is. It's not that much farther than Diamond. I was out on Tonka With Shawn F and Pete G a few days ago by Mtka Yacht Club island. 40/60 ice snow. Better with skies. Not the right lauch today thow.

I should be at Ramsey around midday. Looks promising. A snowy lake might be a bit slow today if temps get as high as expected.

Pelican?

Tighe, Eric, whomever...please do tell where Pelican is. Going out on the minimally snow covered lakes is not too much fun; it is worth the drive for me to get the snow covered lakes. And I got some fancy new Windwing kites to try. Matt Z

Got out on Medicine Lake this morning. 70% wind packed 1-2" snow, 30% ice with good texture for skies & board. Fun & fast.

Pelican is just outside of Monticello. Take 94W to Albertville (37?) exit and follow 37 a few mi. It's on the left. It's surrounded by farm land. The only access sucks! I'm working today. Hpoefully there will be some snow left tomorrow. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/compass ... 8991.53478

Don't worry Brian, PLENTY of snow when I left at about 3PM. There's so much that it aint going anywere now. Might get a bit crusty in some places.

It was a realy awesome session. I don't think there's enough mustard in the state of MN to cover all the hotdogs leaping and flying and (me - dragging) in the soft snow.

I didn't take a camera out but Coach did and I think Tighe did for a bit. Coach was a true photog cause he got to the site and realized it was so on-shore and trudged out maybe a click to get the sun shining on the kites.

It was a mess sometimes, everyone trying to get their perty picture taken. There were like 4 guys fighting for the view finder heheh.

All in all it worked out great and I'm lookin forward to seeing if Coach got any good ones. An Aside, I did a few close runs to the camera and could hear that Coach was shooting multi.

Like this ... ski by him and here click.clickclick.click click.click click.click click.click click.click click.click

I'd shoot like that to if I had a good camera and mucho memory.

Thanks Coach!

It was FUN!

Far Out. Did you just pull off on 37 and hike it?

Yep. It's a short walk out - no more than 100 yards. It was easy enough to put skis on near the road and skate out, as well.
