I agree..Tuesday looks promising all day. I am open to meeting anywhere, Kite Island sounds good. Call me 775 232-1300, let me know when/where. Have stories about Cabarete, DR, if anyone cares, just got back last week. Returning March 11-19th. Martin

Yeah, if you can get out and play Tuesday you will be happy. The forecast is looking encouraging and the island had a really good playground last time I was there on Tuesday of last week. Plenty of winter left to drive out to it.

Chad has a few students up on Mahtomedi Beach tomorrow on White Bear Lake if anyone wants to do a fly by.

Enjoy!

Yes you can drive out to the Island. Lots of traffic the past few days so it is a rough ride near the Island. Best snow is about 1/2 mile South and then good to Big Island. Planning on going out about noon but will probably be setting up south of Kite Island a half mile..... just past the the last fish houses.

The best place to set up is the sailing school island at the mouth of St. Louis bay. The wind break will be nice tomorrow. I was just out there. There is great snow, some untouched, all along the Deephaven shore.

OK, sounds like its time to check out St Louis bay and the sailing school today. Should be out just after noon.

Looks good at kite island today. For directions click on lakes tab and open Tom Lowes Lake mtka map. Then zoom in. Take 394 west at 494 it turns to 12 west. Take 101 north exit. Take a left at top of ramp onto 101/central. After going through ramp lights next light take right on Wayzata Blvd. Get into left lane right away and hang to left at Y down Superior street. At the bottom of hill turn right on Lake street. Second or third stop light is Bury to left grove to right. Take the left on grove. Cross railroad tracks and stay to right around buildings. Then turn left past buildings and drive onto the lake. Follow plowed lake road to kite island. For Sailors world. Stay on 12/394 past 101 north exit to the next one CO road 15 west. Follow 15 west You will go by a marina on both sides of road. Then through some tight turns. The next marina on the left is sailors world. Just past marina entrance is an access road to the lake. Stay to the right when driving on the lake. Sailors world has a bubbler to keep ice thin around it's docks. I love kite island. So it will be my base. But I will be exploring smiths and laffayette bays today. See you on the lake
It should be great:

Dave,

I had to work today too. I'm headed out to Kite Island this evening, arriving around 7pm. Hope to see other kite night-ghosts out there. (Kite lights? Do you mean flood lights at the launch? Or do you hook lights up on your kites?)

I was at Cabelas and found a set of led lights that has straps on them. I did a mod to make the strap longer and I put them on my slingshot it makes my kite look like it has headlights.
