Saturday rides

Post by BizzMarkie »

So I finally got my login working again.
SWEET!
Thanks Mike.

Just wanted to see if there were any local lakes that are rideable, and if anyone is going out?
I saw calhoun yesterday...so depressing. I would call it not even ridable.

Let me know

WELCOME BACK, MARK! I picked up a trojan virus weeks back. It was hard to shake it loose, & misery to be off-line. If I wasn't stuck in town, I'd head up to Rice Lake in Duluth, or over to Ashland, WI. I'm hoping the predicted snowfall will bond to the ice patches next week. I plan to go stare in disgust at the ice sculptures in St. Paul, or some ice skating c/o Wells Fargo. Torch Light Parade anyone? "Master, the villagers are storming up the hill with their torches in hand!"

I'm with you - I'm hoping to get out this weekend too if there's snow somewhere in the metro...this weather is killing me - too little snow to kite and too much snow to iceboat.

I'm going to go out and do some recon today at Tonka, Waconia and Swede to see if there's any hope. Looks like the wind should be alright tomorrow for a big kite.

Went out to Waconia today and scored a light wind session. The snow coverage is great with very few icy spots on the north side, however it is fairly rutted up in the high traffic areas, especially with the antique snowmobile rally on the lake today. Once you get out into the middle, it's not so bad and I was able to find quite a few nice spots of untouched powder. From what I could see, the base is a solid 1-2" across the lake, but I didn't explore the south side much. I was surprised that it is as good as it is given some of the other lakes I checked out.

Tomorrow should be even better with a stronger wind. Just a little FYI for those about to rock.
