Hey Mike B,

What do you think of the Washburn area for the weekend? I know it's a ways up there but it looks like they have some good snow in the bay and even a little wind forecast.

That would be the place. Either start from Washburn or the Ashland side. Still waiting to see what I feel like tomorrow. If I want to do the 4 hour drive after work.

Come to think of it, im booked for the weekend, kind of sucks. It would be sweet to have a demo up here but to be honest, i dont know how many would show up. actually looks like the only spot within wisconsin and minnesota thats gonna get even a light wind. I wanna try that zephyr light wind, sounds like a nice kite. good luck to wherever you go!

The lakes near the Twin Cities are trashed. Rain and warm weather slushed it out and then it froze solid to mostly rough uneven ice patches. Mille may be ridable but likely not great. The Duluth area may be the best snow. They got 13-16 inches in our rain storm in the Wild Rice Lake and Island Lake area. I'm stuck in the Cities on Friday, but I would be up for Island Lake on Saturday and Sunday. West wind on Saturday would make Island Lake the call. Good access, parking and exposure where the road splits the lake.

Still on Cloud 9 eh Patrick? Nice gig to be touring the US doing demos. Livin' large.

Please don't let Mike try that Yakuza. He and I tend to be pretty close in most the races but if he gets one of those I'm screwed. That thing looks wicked fast.

Hope the conditions work out for you this weekend.

see you in Idaho

Can someone up north give us an update on the conditions in the Duluth area?

I'm stoked for the event next weekend!!!!

If they are good, maybe it's worth a trip up tomorrow or Sunday.

we had around a foot of snow on rice lake before the last snowstorm. the airport (3 miles from rice) reported 14 inches for storm totals.

I haven't been out there for a while... like 2 weeks. but I'm sure it's great out there!

sunday is looking great... NW 11 g15... well at least ridable :D

looking foward to riding with some of the twincities crew again

the easiest way is to follow the masaba exit... it only goes one way. masaba will become rice lake road...
you will come to a stoplight at a T, take a left, go one block and take your first right onto Rice Lake RD.
you will folow rice for a while... once you pass the Armor gas station start to look for rice lake dam road... (there will be a brown lake acess sign on the right side) take a left onto rice dam rd. you will see the dam... the parking lot will mostlikely be full by 11am... park on the road with the rest of the cars if theres no room

island lake may have a beter parking situation but the wind and snow conditions will not be as good

After checking condition reports and wind forcasts, both the wind and snow looks the best in the Duluth area on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday west at 9 and Sunday northwest at 11-15. Mille has a hard crusty surface but the wind looks to be significantly less than Duluth.

It looks like the primary Ozone demo site with Patrick will be Wild Rice Lake on Saturday. The alternate site wil be Island Lake just another 10 min up the road. If Patrick's big Ozone Fuzo campmobile is not at Wild Rice, head on up to Island Lake. We will figure out which of the two lakes work best for Sunday. Island may be better for Sundays northwest wind.

Rice Lake and Island Lake are both located on County Highway 4 (Rice Lake Road) just norh of Duluth. Rice Lake access is on Rice Lake Dam Road on the west side of Highway 4. You can't miss Island Lake - Highway 4 splits the lake in two.

Check back for further updates or give Patrick a call.
