I CAN GET WET & COLD RIGHT HERE. This is why I'm not sleeping out on the deck tonight, unless Pam has other ideas. Radar looks like west of Alex is getting the brunt of the non-liquid precip. Hope you guys have a BLAST! Stay safe, stay dry, stayout of the ditch. :mrgreen:No rain yet, just a thin coat of ice out here.

I have a message into my dad in Elbow Lake, near Fergus Falls (20 minutes from Alex). I'm hoping to get some good news soon for precip conditions.

The trip out could be slippery and I'm in a holding pattern for now on what this day beholds.

Ugh the walk to the car was real slick with all the ice on. Not sure what I'm going to do. Might check out the roads and see how they are. Anyone else still heading up?

I'm already up here in the Mille Lacs area. (Like I said, I'm staying with friends.) We got some freezing rain overnight, so the roads may be slick. The deck out at their house was really slick already.

I'm not expecting to get out to Garrison the first thing this morning. I'll probably wait until things warm up and the roads are safe.

I managed to get out this afternoon for a little bit of riding on one of the bays near Isle. By the time I got out there, the rain had stopped, but the wind was starting to die down and get inconsistent. So, for you guys who didn't make it up here, you didn't miss an epic session today, but at least I got in some decent riding.

After all the talk and anticipation of a big lake crossing, I ditched the plans after extended examination of the coming weather and headed west to the Dakotas. Two of us followed up on some summer scouting and found some terrain just west of the rain/snow line. Imagine a mini-Haggin in Eastern ND. Admittedly, the snow was a bit heavy, but after modifying our riding styles and tracking down a runway to the hill, we had a great day of jumping/gliding down some hills. So much terrain, so little time, need more snow.
Thank goodness for plan B!

Nice score Seth.
When Denis, John and I did our summer trip to ND a few years back, we saw so many places that would be sweet in the winter. You must have been in heaven.

Capture any of it on any media?

Us La Crosse cats survived the weekend camping on Mille Lacs... To say that 100% of my garage and basement is being utilized to dry out all the kites, tents, clothes, would not be an over-statement..

We had perfect consistent wind on Friday night, probably about 16mph sustained.

Wow, the wind was nuking on Saturday. We had a pretty epic session, even though the rain was pouring. We were camping a couple miles out on the lake, following the ice road out of Garrison. I have a couple pictures of camping and stuff, but didn't want to bring the camera out during the rain storm.

My odometer on my gps said 18 miles, but it was only turned on for a fraction of the day. I'm guessing we rode for a good 45-50 miles on Saturday in the rain.

One of our buddies got lost in the fog, and ended up being rescued by some ice fishermen. So all in all, it was a fun weekend. Everyone is home safe n sound!

We will be back to Mille lacs soon!!!

nice aaron. glad you guys had a good weekend and made the best out of it, and your buddy made it back safe. I think most of us that did the winter kite crossing in 05(i think it was 05) can attest to the fog and the bad visibility that can happen on mille, it was quite a race.

let me know a little more ahead of time when your heading up and we will haul some sliders out for yall.
